Robert Huelsman
Robert (Bob) V. Huelsman, age 90, of Cassella, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
He was born on March 18, 1932, in Chickasaw, to the late Charles & Mary (Zahn) Huelsman. On November 6, 1954, he married his wife of 67 years, Marlene Vondrell, at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cassella.
Bob is survived by children: Tom & Kathy (Thobe) Huelsman, John & Linda (Schulze) Huelsman and Teresa & Don Mescher all of Chickasaw and Judy & Dave Evers of Willowdell. He is also survived by grandchildren: Kyle & Stacey Huelsman, Megan & Jared Homan, Karlee Huelsman, Scott & Elise Huelskamp, Eric & Jodi Huelskamp, Beth Huelskamp & Justin Gross, Carla Huelskamp, Jake & Christy Broering, Bonnie & Adam Lindner, Brian Huelsman, Jodi & Michael Grover, Jessica & Jake Marchal, Katelyn & Wes Everman, Kelsey & Trent Homan, Andrea & Shawn Eilerman and 33 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way. Bob is survived by siblings and in-laws: Paul Huelsman, Freida & Walter Schwieterman, Jean & Ralph Stachler, Jane & Adrian Jr. Grilliot, Sylvia Shepherd, and Dr. John & Carol Vondrell.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by sons-in-law: Dale Huelskamp and Bill Broering, granddaughters: Sarah, Allison and Janelle Mescher, father & mother-in-law: August & Margaret (Grilliot) Vondrell, as well as siblings and in-laws: Charles Jr. & Helen Jean Huelsman, Helen & Edgar Schwieterman, Delores & Lowell Bohman, Fred Huelsman, Dale & Betty Vondrell, and Bob Shepherd.
Bob was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and Men's Sodality. He served in the United States Air Force with Colonel Tibbets and was a member of the Maria Stein American Legion. Bob was also a member of the Chickasaw Volunteer Fire Department, the National De Soto Club, the Chrysler Restorers Club, and the Chickasaw Mopar Club. He served many years on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Automotive Wholesalers Association. Bob and his wife, Marlene, are past owners of Huelsman Automotive and the Chickasaw Development Company. His hobbies included restoring cars and attending car shows. He was especially proud that he and Marlene were able to visit all 48 contiguous states in their 1979 Chrysler New Yorker. They also enjoyed foreign travel, and especially enjoyed taking their grandchildren along on road trip adventures.
Services will be private with burial in the Blessed Virgin Mary Church Cemetery.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date.
