Alice Balster
Alice Rose Balster, age 87, of Coldwater, died on Monday, August 29, 2022 at her home in Coldwater.
She was born June 9, 1935 in Coldwater to the late Michael & Veronica (Rosenbeck) Hilgeford. She married Richard Henry Balster on September 29, 1956 at St. Henry Catholic Church and he died May 24, 1994.
She is survived by children Therese Oliver of Harvard, MA, Jennifer (Joseph) Lovato of Tucson, AZ, Carolyn (Thomas) Koenig of Springboro, Elaine (Michael) Forrest of Westerville, Kathy (Jerry) Unrast of St. Henry, Mark (JoAn) Balster of Coldwater, Luke (Lene`) Balster of Ogden, Utah, Paul (Sheila) Balster of Hilliard and Marsha (Kevin) Mays of Cincinnati; 28 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Siblings and in-laws, Arnold (Martha) Hilgeford of Portland, IN, Margie (Ray) Sudhoff of St. Anthony, Joan (Ray) Garke of St. Henry, Janie (Charlie) Keller of Ft. Recovery, Mary Phlipot, Clara Walter, Larry (Pat) Balster and James Moeller.
She is also preceded in death by sons, Michael & Joseph Balster; son-in-law Kenneth Oliver; grandson John Machenheimer; parents-in-law, Joseph & Clara (Kremer) Balster and in-laws, Walter (Marilyn) Balster, Esther Moeller, John Walter, and Conrad Phlipot.
Alice was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater where she served as a lay minister and belonged to the St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality. She worked as a bookkeeper at Reynolds & Reynolds, the US Census and was a home health aide. Alice was also a member of the Coldwater Eagles Auxiliary and the Coldwater Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed social events and gathering with family and friends and was an avid card player.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday September 3,2022 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 PM until 8 PM on Friday Sept. 2nd and from 9 AM to 10 AM on Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
