J. Janell Dicke
Jesselyn Janell Suhr Dicke, age 84, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, at her rural Mendon home.
She was born August 2, 1938, in Mercer County, to Edward Roosevelt Suhr and Katheryn Lucille (Protsman) Suhr. Janell and Stanley Wilton Dicke were married on November 5, 1960, and he preceded her in death May 23, 2019.
Surviving are their 5 children: Lynn & Pat Hancock of Union, KY, Cheryl & Edward Jaksic of Enon, Kim & Bob Behne of Maineville, Michael & Anita Dicke of Celina, and Scott & April Dicke of Mendon. Janell is also by survived by 13 grandchildren: Joshua Hancock, Nichole Drew, Brittany Riehle, Heather Acton, Jesselyn Behne, Alexandria Behne, Jamie Green, Courtney Dicke, Devin Dicke, Haley Dicke, Zachary Dicke, Gavin Dicke and Olivia Dicke, and 15 great grandchildren: Alexia, Paige, Shawn, Brooklyn, Parker, Mia, Lucas, Jackson, Elizabeth, Emily, Madison, Eli, Joseph, Mila and Ellie Mae. Janell also leaves behind her beloved pet dachshund, McDuff "Duffy" Dicke. Also surviving are Stanley's brother: Larry & Dianne Dicke, and his sister, Oneta Lyda, of New Bremen.
Preceding Janell in death was her sister: Phyllis Ann Suhr, parents-in-law: Ralph & Lavon Dicke, and brother-in-law: Christopher Lyda.
A 1956 graduate of Mendon-Union High School, Janell had worked at Celina Insurance Group, JC Penney, H&R Block, K-Mart in St. Marys and Walmart in Celina. She was a member of the Mendon Womens Civic Club. As a teenager, Janell played guitar and sang at area events, and also performed several times on the WIMA radio station. Some favorite pastimes were bocce, bowling, and spending winters in Florida. Janell enjoyed making donuts with the grandchildren and playing with her dog, Duffy.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 18, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Jake Boroff officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling Hours are 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18, at
W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina.
