James Zimmerman, Jr.
James W. Zimmerman, Jr., died 6:00 a.m. Sunday November 27, 2022 at Grande Lake Healthcare Center.
He was born May 15, 1937 in St. Marys, OH to James and LaVere (Becker) Zimmerman, Sr.
Survivors include: first wife Sally Hunton and their children: Mike (Mary) Zimmerman, Terry Zimmerman, Sandy (Chris) Weng; current wife Shirley (Collins) Zimmerman and son Mark "Woody" Zimmerman; former wife Allison (Ballard) Zimmerman and son Glenn Zimmerman;
2 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Joseph) Fought and Carter Zimmerman and several great-grandchildren; brother Cloyd (Diane) Zimmerman; brother Art (Jerry) Zimmerman; brother Bruce (Linda) Zimmerman; sister Sharon Bayman; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents James and LaVere Zimmerman, Sr.; son James Zimmerman III; granddaughter Lendsay Zimmerman; brother Gary Zimmerman; sister Jeanette Carroll; sister Joy Lou (Harvey) Mobley; sister Barbara Zimmerman; sister Donna (Roger) Selby; brother-in-law James Bayman.
Jim was an ambitious and adventurous soul. His rather diverse employment history began as a pinsetter at a bowling alley. He later simultaneously owned and operated three automobile dealerships (Jim Zimmerman Datsun, Allen Co. Dodge and Allen Co. Motors), all in Lima, OH. Eventually, he sold aircraft internationally.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. An experienced pilot, he held certification for airplanes and helicopters. Jim also had a keen interest in classic automobiles. He led a life of which most people could only dream.
His affiliations included, but were not limited to, Auglaize Co. Sheriff's Association, Ohio Army National Guard, NRA (lifetime member), National Elks Foundation, Auglaize Co. 4-H, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc., Experimental Aircraft Assoc.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys.
Visitation 5 - 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
