Donald W. Rowe, 93, a longtime resident of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, died suddenly at 1: 21 P.M. Saturday, February 4, 2023, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 20, 1929, in Convoy, Ohio, the son of Wayne and Dorothy (Baldwin) Rowe. He married Louise E. Rogers on October 3, 1952, in Van Wert, and she preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Beth Ann (Craig) Metzger of Columbus; by his daughter-in-law, Beth Rowe of Columbus; by his grandchildren: Katie Coon; Heather Metzger; Jessica Metzger; Kody Fox; Brady Rowe; by a great-grandson, Tyler Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Douglas; by two brothers, Lloyd Rowe and Leon Rowe.

Don was a 1947 graduate of Union High School and he received his Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired after 37 years of service from Nationwide Insurance Company, where he worked primarily as a sales trainer. Don devoted his life to his family, his work, and his church. He was a very active member of the Otterbein Retirement Community. He especially liked the wood working opportunities and the responsibilities of the sound technician in the Meyer Chapel. He will be missed by the family and friends whom he loved. Don was a lifelong Methodist, had a great sense of humor, and was a true friend.

Memorial services and a time of remembrance will be held from 2:00-3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2023, in the Meyer Community Chapel on the campus of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, Pastor Bruce McDaniel, officiant. Private family burial rites will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Van Wert, where Don will be laid to rest with his family.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Otterbein St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
