Matthew Lake
Matthew Murlin Lake, 44, formerly of Celina, died unexpectedly on March 7, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas.
He was born July 24, 1978, in Kettering, Ohio.
Survivors include his daughter, Marin Lake, California; former wife, Jessica Frazer, California; parents, David and Kathy Lake, Celina; sister, Michelle Lake Romary and her partner Efrain Hernandez, Avon, Ohio; nephews, Alex and Brennan and niece, Coco, Avon, Ohio; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matt graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School, Kettering, Ohio in 1997. He proudly served his country for 6 years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Blue Ridge specializing in IT Networking, where he met his former wife. During his time in the military, he traveled worldwide and lived in Japan for several years. Upon leaving the Navy he graduated from Ohio University with a degree in IT. He worked for Progressive Insurance, both in Cleveland, Ohio, and then in Colorado Springs, Colorado as an IT Manager. After leaving Progressive he worked for the US Olympic Committee as a Senior Network Engineer setting up IT networks worldwide for numerous Olympic venues including the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. Upon leaving the Olympic Committee he became Director of Operations for the Lake family-owned One Iron Golf, Inc., an international manufacturer/retailer of golf equipment. After four years in that position, he moved to San Antonio, Texas. In 2022, he partnered with Colorado Solar Mining company to collaborate on crypto passive income strategies.
He was a past member of the Celina Moose Lodge, Celina American Legion, Post #210, Northmoor and Lynx golf clubs; where he had too many friends to count. He had friends across the globe and everyone would agree that he was a gregarious, charismatic, and happy-go-lucky person. Matt's interests included: golf, astronomy, ancient history, music, poetry, and fishing and he was a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Cisco Funeral Homes in Celina; to conclude the gathering, military rites will be conducted by Celina American Legion Post #210 and VFW Post #5713.
