Ralph Guggenbiller
Ralph A. Guggenbiller, 85, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio.
He was born on July 7, 1937, in Fort Recovery, to the late Aloys and Caroline (Kunkler) Guggenbiller.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Connie (Hoying) Guggenbiller, whom he married on July 4, 1962; his son, Dwain (Carla) Guggenbiller of Columbus, Ohio; his grandchildren, Holly and Matthew; his siblings, Rita Bertke of Centerville, Ohio, and Robert (Lillian) Guggenbiller of Fort Recovery, Ohio; his in-laws, Sr. Barbara Hoying, Linda Hoying, Janice Rindler, David Reilly, Diane (Dennis) Siefring, Fred (Martie) Hoying, Sue (Stan) Zielinski, Ron (Teresa) Hoying, Richard (Zinnia) Hoying, Lois (Robert) Hartings, Mike (Pam) Hoying, Fr. Mark Hoying, and Cindy (John) Hamberg.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his grandson, Alex Guggenbiller; his siblings, Greg Guggenbiller, Esther (Arnold) Johnsman, Mildred (Cyril) Broering, Ernest Bertke, and Vic Guggenbiller; and his in-laws, Kenneth Hoying, Norman Hoying, Jerome Rindler, Helen Hoying, Beverly Hoying, and Mary Therese Reilly.
Ralph was a 1955 graduate of Fort Recovery High School. He enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he served honorably for 6 years. Ralph was a lifelong farmer and worked for Inland Steel and VanLeer as a general supervisor until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sharpsburg, where he was a part of the Men's Sodality and a longtime member of the church choir. Ralph was also a member of the Fort Recovery American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery Knights of Columbus, and a past member of the Zoning Board.
Ralph loved rooting for the University of Dayton basketball team and the Notre Dame football team. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, with Father Mark Hoying and Deacon Steve Broering celebrating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the church cemetery.
Guests may visit with Ralph's family on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and again on Wednesday from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Knights of Columbus and American Legion prayer services will be conducted on Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the church.
