Leon Linn
Leon E. Linn, age 96 of St. Henry, died Sunday, June 4, 2023, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born February 27, 1927, in Coldwater to the late Andy & Velma (Douglas) Linn. On May 22, 1954, in St. Henry, he married Mary Ellen (Kemper) Linn, and she preceded him in death on February 28, 2016.
He is survived by children Dan & Angie Linn of St. Henry, Pat Fleck of New Bremen, Gary & Cindy Linn of St. Henry, Paula & Mark Topp of New Bremen, Mark & Karen Linn of Ft. Mill, SC, and Dave & Lisa Linn of Piqua; 16 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren, two step great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law Jim Wenning of Coldwater.
In addition to his parents and wife, Leon is preceded in death by a son-in-law Mike Fleck; as well as siblings and in-laws: Irene & Richard Shinabery, Juanita Wenning, Ernie Linn, Pauline Linn, Marlene & Herb Braun, Ruth & Arnold Kramer, Donald & Yvonne, Kemper, Betty & Clete Barhorst, Anthony J. (Rusty)& Dorothy Kemper Jr., David & Joan (Annie) Kemper, and nephew Richard Kemper.
Leon was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, the St. Henry American Legion, and the Coldwater VFW. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Leon had worked at the former Avco New Idea factory in Coldwater. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, especially when he could take the grandchildren fishing and then out to eat. He and his wife Mary Ellen were loyal St. Henry Redskins sports fans, especially baseball.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at St. Henry Catholic Church, in St. Henry. Burial with military honors In St. Henry Cemetery will follow the Mass.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8, and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home St. Henry. Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at The Gardens at St. Henry, or EverHeart Hospice.
