Norman Bertke
Norman L. Bertke, age 91 of Minster, Ohio passed away in the night on July 30, 2023 at Heritage Manor, Minster Ohio.
He was born on October 29, 1931 in Minster, Ohio to the late Aloys & Clara Belle (Gudorf) Bertke.
He is survived by his children Karen and David Junkin of Bellbrook, OH, Judith (Carte) Leese of Minster, OH, Kevin Monnin of Cody, WY, Allan Bertke of Minster, OH, Deborah and Shawn Sharp of Minster, OH and Michael and Lisa Bertke of Troy, OH, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sister Viola and Dr. Robert Albers of Coldwater, OH, brother-in-law Mark Wenning, St. Henry OH, sister-in-law Rosemary Fleck, Coldwater, OH and brother-in-law Ralph and Diane Penno, of Punta Gorda, FL.
Norm was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma (Penno) Bertke, and his second wife Kathleen (Mader) (Monnin) Bertke. Also preceding him in death was sister Velma Wenning, sister-in-law Phyllis (Penn) (Kemper) Castle, brother-in-law Paul Fleck and sister-in-law Joan (Gast) Wenning.
Norm was owner/operator of Bertke's Garage until he retired in 1987. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and the Orphan Society of the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2158, Minster F..E. # 1391, a retired volunteer firefighter for the Minster Jackson Twp. Fire Department. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's activities and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He was an accomplished woodworker creating many pieces for his children and grandchildren to cherish. He loved to fish with family and friends, especially at Lake Erie. He had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster burial to follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Thursday, August 3, from 4 to 7 PM and from 9 to 9:30 AM on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Minster Jackson Twp. Fire Department.
