Barbara (Preston) Suhr-Reder, age 85 of Celina, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.

She was the daughter of Harry "Bill" Preston and Verna (Now) Glass, born on April 17, 1938 in Neptune.

Barb graduated from Celina High School in 1965. After graduation she worked at Goldstein's Dress Shop, Wilson Shoes and Citizens National Bank where she met Dale Suhr and they married in 1963. Together they established The Redwood Inn, Fritz's Hamburgers, Casey Jones Steak House and Suhr's Soup and Sandwich Shop. In 1987 she married Edwin Smith. Together they took many fishing trips and loved boating on Grand Lake. On June 7, 1998 she married Gerhard "Jim" Reder. Barb and Jim traveled to Las Vegas and eventually bought a home on Pine Island Florida where they spent winters. Jim passed away on January 29, 2004. After Jim's death Barb was able to help her son Fritz with his business and restaurant. Barb was a volunteer with the Red Cross and went to assist after Hurricane Rita and other disasters. Barb became an EMT in 2009 and ran on the Rockford Volunteer Squad. Barbara was an active member of the Red Hat Society and the Phi Beta Psi Iota Gamma Sorority. She found joy in various activities, including golfing, fishing, antiquing, traveling, and gardening. She loved animals and went with Maria on several "freedom rides" to transport dogs. Professionally, she helped manage the Suhr Family Restaurants, contributed her skills as a banker at Citizens Commercial Bank in Celina, and loved bartending at Northmoor Country Club.

She is survived by her loving children Fritz (Angie) Suhr of Celina, Maria Suhr (Greg Menchhofer) of Celina, grandchildren Derek Menchhofer, Corey (Cassandra) Menchhofer, Tyler (Cassie) Menchhofer, great grandchildren Easton, Carson, Madelyn, Chase, Bernice, sister Beverly (David) Kozak of Pinehurst, NC, and sister-in-law Rosalie Preston of NC.

She is preceded in death by her father and stepmother Harry "Bill" and Thelma Preston, mother Verna (Now) Glass, stepfather J. Edward Glass, husbands, and brother Dan Preston. Fritz and Maria thank Celina Manor and Divine at Shane Hill for their loving care over the years.

A Memorial Gathering for friends and family will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home.
