Kathlyn Prenger
Kathlyn R. (Kathy) Prenger, age 79 of Minster, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, January 8, 2024 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
She was born on April 23, 1944 in Lima to the late Kenneth & Garnet (Hill) Rodeheffer. On September 12, 1964 she married John J. Prenger at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, Ohio. After many years of marriage, they remained lifelong friends. John still resides in Minster.
She is also survived by her children: Brenda (Dale) Goubeaux, Russia, Ohio, David Prenger, Terry (Carol Albers) Prenger, Kevin (Amy) Prenger all of Minster, Michelle (Alex) Weber, Patterson, CA, and John (Ashley) Prenger, Marysville, OH. She is also survived by sister Kendra Hirsch, St. Marys, brother, Charles Rodeheffer, New Knoxville, in-laws: Rosemary VanderHorst, Lexington, KY, Deborah Meis, Tipp City, Eileen Holtzhauer, Fairport, NY, Lester (Sue) Prenger, Minster, 6 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren & 4 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Dennis J. Prenger, daughter, Sharon L. Prenger, Sister: Patricia Westefeld, in-laws: Richard Westefeld, Steven Hirsch, Velma & Jack Roeckner, Harold VanderHorst, and Thomas Holtzhauer.
Kathy was a 1962 honors graduate of New Knoxville High School. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster and was a devoted religion teacher for many years. Kathy was a beloved mother, grandmother & great grandmother and always welcomed her children's friends as part of the family. She held various jobs in sales, customer service positions working with people which included Heritage Manor Nursing Home and Bruckens Café. She was passionate in her religious beliefs as a member of the Minster/New Bremen Right to Life. She enjoyed antiques and other collectables, playing solitaire and spending time with family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Monday, January 15, 2024 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster with Fr Mark Hoying officiating. Burial to follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 1 to 5 PM and on Monday, January 15 from 9:00 to 9:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grand Lake Home Health and Minster/New Bremen Right to Life.
