Kenneth Sudman
Kenneth E.W. Sudman, age 85, of rural St. Marys, died on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 8:22 P.M. at the Kindred Hospital in Lima, Ohio.
He was born on March 23, 1938 near New Bremen, the son of the late Wilbert G. and Ethel L. (Ahlers) Sudman. On December 12, 1957, he married Regina Eisert and they shared 66 wonderful years together. She survives near St. Marys.
Also surviving are his children: Dennis Sudman of New Bremen, Linda (Tom) Klosterman of Wapakoneta, and Ned (Lisa Moore) Sudman of St. Marys, his nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Lee (Patty) Sudman, of St. Marys.
Along with his parents, Ken was preceded in death by a sister and brother in-law, Beverly (Harold) Donovan, and an infant grandson.
Ken was a 1956 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. He was a faithful member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, where he had served as a Deacon. He spent his whole life dedicated to the family dairy farm before retiring in 2011. Ken had also served as a St. Marys Township firefighter for ten years, and was also a St. Marys Township Trustee for more than 21 years. He had served on the board of the J.T.D.M. Hospital, and also belonged to the Young Farmers group and Buckeye Farm Antiques. Ken enjoyed playing cards and collecting tractors. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Together, he and Regina liked to attend tractor shows and take weekend trips to Holmes County to visit friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, with Rev. Ken Locke and Rev. Allen Sudman officiating. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 2 until 5 p,m. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again on Monday, at the church, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
