Ronald Bensman
Ronald F. Bensman, age 81 of Minster, Ohio, died on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born on May 30, 1942, in St. Patrick, Ohio to the late Arthur & Henrietta (Poeppelman) Bensman. He married his wife Norma Jean Monnin of almost 59 years on January 30, 1965, in St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. She survives in Minster.
He is also survived by children: Rhonda and Terry Bergman, New Bremen; Mark and Lois Bensman, New Bremen; Rick and Missy Bensman, New Bremen; Kristine and Allen Garber, Troy; Lori and Troy Suchland, New Bremen; Lisa and Jeff Dirksen, Minster; 20 grandchildren: Taylor and Clay Heitkamp, Derek Bergman and fiancee Faith Hagelberger, Jared Bergman, Josh Bensman, Heather and Cody Wendel, Zach "Rick" Bensman and fiancee Madison Cordonnier, Jake Bensman, Nathan, Nick, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Jacqueline Garber, Jadyn, Blake, Tanner, Jenna Suchland, Logan, Carter, Chase, Sophia Dirksen; two great-grandchildren: Levi, Bo and one on the way; siblings Orville and Ruth Bensman, Sidney; David and Margie Bensman, New Bremen; Margie and Joe Moore, Miamisburg; Jane and Walt Homan, Findlay; in-laws: Doris Monnin, Versailles; Rita Monnin, Troy; and Bill Mann, Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by in-laws: Sr. Evelyn Monnin, CPPS, Carl Monnin, Linus Monnin, Kathleen & Melvin "Bud" Heuing, and Elizabeth Mann.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen, and a graduate of Minster High School in 1960. He was a corporal in the Ohio National Guard and Army Reserves for four years, and was a lifelong farmer, carpenter, electrician and sold feed and supplements. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization, Minster Knights of Columbus, Minster Eagles and New Bremen American Legion. Ron enjoyed working on his farm, loved growing crops, the earth and country music. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren on camping trips and vacations.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen and burial with full military honors to follow in German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 from 3 to 7 p.m. and at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 9 to 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grand Lake Hospice.
