Eugene Kramer
Eugene "Gene" Ernest Kramer, age 86, Versailles, passed peacefully away of natural causes Saturday evening, January 20, 2024, at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio.
He was born November 28, 1937, in Cassella, Ohio, to the late Lawrence and Laurena (Bergman) Kramer. On June 7, 1958, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Gene married Patricia "Pat" (Subler) Kramer, who survives.
He is survived by six children: Michael and Lois Kramer of Versailles; Steven and Martha Kramer of Versailles; Ronald and Jane Kramer of Versailles; Douglas and Kim Kramer of Richardson, Texas; David and Kim Kramer of Celina; and Linda and Steve Berger of Yorkshire; 16 grandchildren: Angela and Justin Armstrong, Amy and Andrew Gruden, Karen and Rick Vaught, Ashley and Vince Rohr, Abbigail and Frank Adams, Thomas, Joshua, Nicole and Derick and Kristine Kramer, Melisha and Kent Jansen, Kyle Kramer, Brandon, Brett and Tabitha and Deacon Brice Berger, Makayla and Justin Rose, Marcus Berger and three step grandchildren, Nathan Plummer, Jen and Joe Braun and Kris and Wade Caris; 19 great-grandchildren (and one on the way): Kaylee, Ethan and Claire Armstrong, Bryant, Allyson, McKenna and Landon Gruden, Alexis and Finely Rohr, Evelyn and Dawson Kramer, Brody Jansen, Leon and Annalise Adams, Leah and Anna Berger, Elijah, Emma and Renee Rose and three step great-grandchildren, Jensyn and Henley Braun and Jordan Caris.
Also surviving are six siblings: Vern and Julie Kramer of Chicago, Ill.; Doris Goettemoeller of Versailles; Marvin Kramer of Kansas City, Kan.; Lloyd and Sylvia Kramer of Coldwater; Rene and Luke Klosterman of Coldwater; Janice and Charles Feltz of Coldwater and a sister-in-law, Diane and Joe Seger of Fort Loramie, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Virgil Kramer; a brother-in-law, Bill Goettemoeller and father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Anna Subler.
Mr. Kramer had been engaged in farming all of his working life. In 1994, he retired from the Minster Machine Company where he had been employed 28 years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown, St. Denis Knights of Columbus Council #1756 (3rd degree), Catholic Knights of America and the Minster Machine 25-year club. Years ago, Gene and Pat were long-time members of the Dixie Twirlers square dance club. Gene was dedicated to his family. He also loved playing cards and restoring antique tractors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Isaiah Callan and Deacon Brice Berger presiding. Interment will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery.
Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
