Irma Arling
Irma L. Arling, age 89, of North Star, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 10 at Briarwood Village with her family at her bedside.
She was born November 8,1934, on a farm near Wendelin OH, to the late Lawrence and Stella (Reichert) Brunswick and graduated from St. Henry High School. She married Urban Arling on September 10, 1955, who survives at Briarwood Village.
Surviving are her children, Steve and Tammie Arling, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Dan Arling, North Star; Jean and Buddy Hyman, Coldwater; Deb and Keith Hartzell, Versailles; Beck and Glenn Miller, St. Henry; Sue Schmackers, Carthagena; Paula and Keith Rammel, North Star; and Rob and Jennifer Arling, Arcanum. She has 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by in-laws Ann Brunswick, Shirley Brunswick, Janet Brunswick, Alfrieda Lange, Teresa Heyne, Velma Schlater, Nick and Linda Arling, Bonnie and Dave York. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dale Schmackers and her siblings and in-laws Cletus Brunswick, Louis Brunswick, Adele & Norbert Stelzer, Marie Uhlenhake Broerman, Tom Uhlenhake, Leo Broerman, Paul Brunswick, Charles Brunswick, Rita Brunswick, Frank & MaryAnn Arling, Marietta & Ed Unrast, Mildred & Roman Evers, Norma & Louis Heyne, Art Lange, Leroy Heyne, and Ed Schlater.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star. She was also a 50 year member of the Osgood American Legion Auxiliary Post #588 and held several officer roles. Irma was a member of St. Ann's Sodality at St. Louis. Irma worked in the offices at Avco-New Idea in Coldwater and Reynolds and Reynolds in Celina before she married Urban. Irma was a homemaker and helped Urban on the farm. Irma was a loving wife and cherished mother. She enjoyed her busy life raising her family. She loved playing hide and seek or "go to court" with the kids and grandkids and giving away their hiding places. She and Urban always enjoyed the many large family gatherings and watching the family grow.
The family is very grateful for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Irma and her family by the staff at Briarwood Village in Coldwater and EverHeart Hospice care. The aides and nurses at Briarwood loved Irma's spunk and sense of humor. We are also grateful for the caregivers that came to the house for three and a half years to assist in her and Urban's care prior to their move to Briarwood Village.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star with Rev. Fr. Stephen Jones, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in North Star.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 16 from 3-8 p.m. at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the church.
