Paul Heitkamp
Paul A. Heitkamp, age 88, of St. Henry, died Sunday, June 23, 2024, at St. Rita's Hospital, in Lima. He was born January 24, 1936, at home, to the late Edward & Hilda (Muhlenkamp) Heitkamp. On September 10, 1960, he married Stella (Kremer) Heitkamp. Stella & Paul were married for over 57 years until her passing in February of 2018.
Paul is survived by children, Dennis & Joan Heitkamp of Ft. Recovery, Dale & Mary Ann Heitkamp of St. Henry, Duane & Judy Heitkamp of St. Henry, daughters-in-law Paula Heitkamp of St. Henry, and Judy & John Heitkamp of New Bremen. Paul is preceded in death by two sons, Donald Heitkamp and David Heitkamp. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, as well as siblings and in-laws: Dorothy Chaney of Ft. Loramie, Eileen & Tom Litmer of St. Joe, Willie & Barb Heitkamp of St. Henry, Elmer Heitkamp of St. Anthony, Ruth Sutter of St. Henry, John & Millie Heitkamp of Tipp City, Ken Heitkamp of North Carolina, Ronny & Donna Heitkamp of Coldwater, Janice & Howard Homan of New Knoxville, Dan & Mary Heitkamp of Coldwater, Mary Ann & Tom Poeppelman of St. Henry, Dolores & Dave Fortman of Minster, Rosie & Alan Diller of Coldwater, Marlene & Wayne Tekamp of Coldwater, and Ginny Kremer of St. Henry.
In addition to his parents, wife, and two sons, Paul is preceded in death by siblings and in-laws: Melvin & Evelyn Heitkamp, Don Chaney, Julie Heitkamp, Norb & Edna Kremer, Esther & Ivo Goettemoeller, Donald Kremer, and Ralph Gelhaus, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Herman & Marie Kremer.
Paul was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, and belonged to the Coldwater American Legion, the Coldwater VFW, and the Celina Moose. Paul retired from Minster Machine and used to have a television and radio repair business. Paul enjoyed fishing and gambling, as well as sitting in the garage and greeting folks as they passed, especially those who stopped for a visit with him and Stella.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Following the funeral mass, burial with military honors will take place in St. Henry Cemetery.
