Robert Baker
Robert Louis Baker, age 93, of Celina passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
He was born on the family farm near New Albany, the son of the late Lee and Evelyn (Herb) Baker on July 16, 1931. On December 24, 1950, he married the love of his life, Mazie A. Faulkner, who died on Dec. 13, 2020. He is survived by his children Mazie (Steve) Mizelle of Walworth, WI, Rhoda (Michael) Lane of Celina, Steve Baker of Paulding, five grandchildren Christina (Hunter) Trevino, Sarah (John) Miller, Robert (Anna) Mizelle, David (Kim) Mizelle, J. Lee Baker, nine great-grandchildren Riley Miller, Jackson Mizelle, Charlie Mizelle, Danny Mizelle, Trace Trevino, Walker Mizelle, Kristin Mizelle, Jazlynn Miller, and Morgan Miller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Timothy Louis Baker, brothers Harry Baker, Norman Baker, and sister Helen Applegate.
Robert graduated from New Albany High School with the class of 1949. He proudly served his country in the United States Naval Reserves. He was employed by Soil Conservation Service in Ironton, Delaware, and Lancaster, Ohio from 1949 until 1958. In 1958, he was elected Secretary Treasurer of Federal Land Bank Association of Celina and after several mergers, retired in 1986 as Chief Operating Officer of Farm Credit Service of West Ohio. He was a former president of The Ohio Federation of Federal Land Bank Associations.
He enjoyed fishing, swimming, and surfing.
Robert and his wife Mazie were active in ballroom dancing. He had an open water scuba diving license and was privileged to see the bottom of the ocean in many places around the world. Robert was a devoted member of the Grace Missionary Church in Celina.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the Grace Missionary Church in Celina, with Pastor Shawn Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Celina. Friends and family may call from 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home and 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. on Monday at the Church.
