ST. MARYS TOWNSHIP - A 75-year-old Tipp City woman was killed following a two-vehicle accident in western Auglaize County on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred on State Route 364 at Southland Road in St. Marys Township at about 12:02 p.m., according to a news release from the Wapakoneta Post of the State Highway Patrol.
Theresa L. Bachelor, 75, of Tipp City was driving a 2020 Ford Escape westbound on Southland Road. Ayodeji A. Opadeyi, 41, of Sidney was driving a 2019 Toyota Avalon northbound on State Route 364.
The Ford Escape failed to yield from the stop sign on Southland Road and was struck by the Toyota Avalon, a preliminary investigation shows.
Both vehicles then slid off of the west side of State Route 364, with the Ford Escape striking a fence and tree and the Toyota Avalon striking a fence and a house, according to the release.
Bachelor and Opadeyi both sustained injuries from the crash and were transported to Joint Township Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. Bachelor later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead, according to the release.
Bachelor and Opadeyi were both wearing safety belts at the time of the accident. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit, Ohio Department of Transportation, St. Marys Township Fire Department, St. Marys EMS and Auglaize County CERT also responded to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
