Tony Quellhorst
Anthony ("Tony") Quellhorst, age 61 of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in the early morning of July 23rd, 2024. Tony was born on December 25th, 1962, to Dale and Wilma (Bruns) Quellhorst.
Growing up, he was an active member of 4-H as well as the Future Farmers of America. At the age of 17, he participated in a study abroad program to Norway through the Youth for Understanding project. Through this endeavor, he was able to experiment with activities like cross-country skiing and explored many other countries including Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. In 1981, he graduated from St. Mary's High School in the top 10% of his class.
Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and served his country as a Cavalry Scout in Germany. It was here that he met Ramona (maiden name Muller). In 1983, he and Ramona moved back to the United States to welcome Jen, their first of two daughters.
Following his time in the Army, Tony went on to have a successful career which allowed him to continue traveling the world working with a diverse array of companies. While working for Premelt, he was able to spend time in Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Following this period, he was employed by Enernoc in Boston performing equipment installation. His most recent 11 years were spent with Ransohoff as a Field Service Control Engineer installing and troubleshooting cleaning cells for many different companies.
Tony was an avid fan of rock & roll and an accomplished musician, playing the guitar and singing in a band for most of his adult life. He was well-known for his ability to sing AC/DC songs with an uncanny likeness to the originals. His band mates became brothers to him, and the group could be found entertaining crowds anywhere from local bars and restaurants to town parades.When not spending time with family, playing music, or working, Tony enjoyed gardening,golf and keeping up with politics.
Tony is survived by his daughter Jen (Grigsby) and her husband Cody of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida as well as his grandson Killian (KJ); his daughter Jessica Quellhorst of Las Vegas, Nevada; his brothers Keith (Kim) Quellhorst of Lima, Ohio; David Bruns of Ventura, California; Larry Bruns of Ventura; Craig (Teresa) Carpenter of O'Fallon, Illinois; his sister, Jeannie (Troy) Bartoz of Madison, Indiana; his niece Kelsey (Grieshop) and her husband Keith of St. Marys, Ohio; his nephew Trevor Quellhorst of Spencerville, Ohio; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other distant relatives. He is also survived by many beloved friends, including Jack Yaney, Greg Scott, Bill Dysert, Tony Williams and Roger Dysert. He is preceded in death by his mother Wilma and father Dale of St. Marys, Ohio.
Funeral rites will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys.
