Thomas Rose
Thomas Norbert Rose, 76, Montezuma, died August 15, 2024, surrounded by family.
He was born January 14, 1948, in Celina, to Oscar and Ruth (Dabbelt) Rose, deceased. On April 18, 2020, he married Teresa Speelman at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, and she survives. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Phyllis (Schwieterman) Rose.
Also surviving are six children and thirteen grandchildren; Julia (Michael) Collins, Beavercreek, Brandon, Rees and Hayden; James (Alma) Rose, Los Gatos, CA., Paloma and Alessandra; Andrea (Chad) Grieshop, Versailles, Simone, Elizabeth, Helena, and Gianna; Michael (Coby) Rose, Evanston, IL., Alex and Elliot, David (Elizabeth) Rose, Cincinnati, and Eric (Kristen) Rose, Riverside, CA., McKinley and Chloe.
Other survivors include six brothers and sisters, Joanne (Louis) Bohman, Osgood, Ginny Dues, Coldwater, Barbara (Robert) Ruhenkamp, Fort Loramie, Elaine (Gary) Thobe, Maria Stein, Linda (Mark) Homan, St. Rose, and Gary Rose, St. Sebastian.
Also surviving is mother-in law Marjorie Speelman; in-laws, Tony (Theresa) Speelman, Anna: Thomas (Denise) Speelman, Mendon; Thecla (Pat) Barhorst, Minster; Theodore (Debi) Speelman, Troy; Terri Sue (Jeff) Phlipot, Fort Loramie; Tami (Doug) Larger, Fort Loramie; Todd (Diane) Speelman, Seattle, WA; Trudy (Angie) Speelman, Akron; Tonya (Kevin) Corbit, Minster; Jean (Bob) Neumeister, Oakwood, Joan (Bill) Geise, Coldwater, Marilyn Schwieterman, Coldwater, Matt (Carol Beckman) Schwieterman Jr., Coldwater, Trish (Ken) Wrightsman, Surprise, AZ., Ralph (Jane) Schwieterman, Coldwater, Romie (Brenda) Schwieterman, Coldwater, Chris (Jerry) Schulte, Chickasaw and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by, parents-in-law Gene Speelman, Coletta and Matthew Schwieterman, in-laws Alvin Dues, Joyce Rose, Christopher Schwieterman, Kenneth Schwieterman, Joyce Schwieterman, Dee Schwieterman, Thedford Speelman, nephews Greg and Christopher Dues, Darren and Brian Ruhenkamp, Aaron Rose, and niece Anne Schwieterman-Fullmer.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, where he was an usher and member of the Men's Holy Name Society. He was a 1966 graduate of Marion Local High School after which he served in the Marine Corps Reserves. He was a member of the Rod and Gun Club and American Legion, both New Bremen and the Celina Moose Lodge. He was a lifelong farmer, retired from UPS after 30 years, and served as Franklin Township Trustee for 8 years. He loved the outdoors enjoying trap shooting, hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife, family, and friends.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe cemetery.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
