* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Shirley Hicks
Shirley M. Hicks, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in St. Marys, on Monday, August 19, 2024.
She was born September 11, 1939, in Northfield, Vermont, to the late William and Mildred (Dunsmoor) Demar. Shirley and Vernon R. Hicks were married on March 24, 1962, and he preceded her in death February 1, 2009.
She is survived by two daughters and a son: Donnie (Rene) Hicks and Brenda S. (Glenn) Hill of St. Marys, and Tina M. Harrelson (Mark Logan) of Fresno, California, along with 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Pauline Miller, Bonita & Eric Welker, June & Dennis Dorsten, and Brenda Hicks, all survive in Mendon.
Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers: Fred, Howard, Edwin, Frank, and Richard Demar, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mary Agnes Hicks, Donnie Edward Hicks, Eugene Hicks, Wanda & Cletus Mahaffey, Phyllis & Everett Lauth, Dolores & Tobbie Derossett, Joy & Rainer "Nick" Brodnicki, and Wayne Miller.
She was a homemaker, and had worked at various businesses in the local area. Activities Shirley enjoyed were: doing Word Search and Jigsaw Puzzles, watching birds and squirrels, the Game Show Network and Michael Strahan, listening to Bluegrass Music, and occasionally buying Scratch-off Lottery Tickets.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 23, at the Mendon First Church of God, with Pastor Jake Boroff, officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling Hours are 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, at the Mendon First Church of God.
Memorial Contributions may be made to: ALS of Ohio or Heartland Hospice in Sidney.
