James Marchal
James "Jim" Marchal age 82 of Russia, Ohio, died on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He was born on January 17, 1942 in Russia, Ohio to the late Raymond & Eva (O'Reilly) Marchal. He married Dina Vanderhorst on October 12, 2002 in St. Augustine Church Minster, Ohio and she survives in Russia.
He is also survived by his sisters: Jean Hageman, Botkins and Kay & Wes Sanders, Maria Stein, nieces & nephews: Jim Hageman, Karen Weinstock, Mike Thobe, Laura Kackley, Julie Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Cletus Marchal, brothers-in-law Tim Thobe, Ken Wuebker and in-laws Norbert & Patricia Vanderhorst.
Jim was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Brunnerdale High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force, a member of the CWV, Russia, American Legion, Fort Loramie, Amvets #66, Minster & Versailles Eagles, Dayton Ski & Board Club Troy Ham Radio Club. He was a pilot and instructor, an avid skier, and a ham radio operator. He retired from Minster Machine as a press repairman, traveling all over the world but favorite work destination was Slovenia. Jim enjoyed farming, fishing, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia.
Burial with full military honors to follow at St. Remy Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 3 to 8 PM and on Friday, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
