Walter Minch
Walter M. Minch, age 72, of New Bremen, died peacefully on August 22, 2024 at 8:05 P.M. surrounded by his family at the Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen.
Walt was born on April 3, 1952 in Coldwater, the son of the late Walter C. and Mary Ann (Langenkamp) Minch. On January 5, 1973, in Sharpsburg, OH, he married Gloria Jean (Good) Minch who survives near New Bremen.
Also surviving are their children: Corbin A. (Christina) Minch of West Chester, Denise A. (Jorge) Monroy of Kettering, and Brian A. Minch of Mason, as well as their grandchildren Andrew and Nicholas Minch. Also left to cherish Walt's memory are his siblings and in-laws: Becky Simcoe of St. Henry and Rick (Nancy) Minch of North Carolina, Don (Mary) Ontrop of St. Henry, Jim Link of Indiana, Keith (Doris) Good of Ft. Recovery, Chuck (Marge) Good of St. Henry, and Rick (Aundrea) Good of St. Marys.
Along with his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his sister Connie Good, two infant brothers Rodney and Ronny Minch, and his in-laws: Robert Good, Steve Simcoe, Dianne Link, Mary Link, and David Good.
Walt was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. Following graduation from St. Henry High School in 1970, Walt joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a Grade E marine mechanic from 1971 thru 1975 during the Vietnam War. Walt was a people-person and a hard worker his entire life as the Operations Manager for Campbell Soup, Vice President of Operations for Gilardi Foods and as a co-owner of Soak-n-Suds Car Wash.
Whether tinkering around at home, or being a Master Gardener, he was always thinking and using his hands. He enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and reading (especially sci-fi novels), building bird houses, canning his home-grown produce, and he was also a computer wiz. There was nothing Walt couldn't do, or fix, or build using his creative imagination. He will be remembered for his compassion for others, his love for life, and his love of pie.
