1 killed in 2-vehicle crash on Saturday

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP - A 59-year-old Indiana woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Saturday evening in Hopewell Township.

This was one of two separate fatal accidents that occurred in Mercer County on Saturday.

Mercer County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at 7:42 p.m. of a crash at the intersection of State Route 118 and Frahm Pike, according to a news release from Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey.

Keith T. Huey of Geneva, Indiana, was driving a 2000 silver Ford F150 pickup truck westbound on Frahm Pike. Julie A. Ninde, 57, of Ossian, Indiana, was driving a 2014 blue Honda CR-V SUV northbound on State Route 118, per the release.

Huey reportedly failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by the SUV driven by Ninde.

Huey's front-seat passenger, Regina K. Huey, 59, of Geneva, Indiana, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the report. Huey was reportedly transported to Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater for treatment.

Ninde was also transported to Mercer County Community Hospital for treatment, according to the release.

The county sheriff's office crash reconstruction team was deployed to the scene of the accident which remains under investigation and will be forwarded to the county prosecutor's office for review.

Assisting at the scene were Rockford Fire Department, Rockford Emergency Medical Services, Celina Fire Department, Celina EMS and Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers.
