Elizabeth Meiring
Elizabeth K. "Betty" Meiring, age 80, of New Bremen, died on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 10:13 P.M. at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born on April 4, 1944, in Celina the daughter of the late Otto H. and Rosalyn M. (Knapke) Muhlenkamp. On August 22, 1970, she married Robert C. "Bob" Meiring who preceded her in death on January 23, 2019.
Surviving are her children: Bryon Meiring of New Bremen, Kevin (Betsy) Meiring of Ft. Loramie, and Steve (Jennifer) Meiring of Cincinnati; her seven grandchildren: Justin (Lisa) Meiring, Ashley (Kyle) Brandewie, Tyler (Josie) Meiring, Connor Meiring, Marissa Meiring, Spencer Meiring, and Morgan Meiring; and her six great-grandchildren: Jett, Boyd, Keira, Levi, Valerie, and Averie. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings: John (Evelyn) Muhlenkamp of Cincinnati, Dianne (Jim) Schwartz, of Cincinnati, Ted (Judy) Muhlenkamp of Coldwater, Lou (Luke) Brackman of Coldwater, Nick (Joanie) Muhlenkamp of Coldwater, Mariann Pubentz of Cincinnati, and Joe (Julie) Muhlenkamp of Fort Recovery; her in-laws: Doris Enneking of New Bremen, Rose (Bob) Houser of Russia, Bill Meiring of New Bremen, Edna McCall of Tennessee, and Dot (Don) Krieg of Wapakoneta.
Along with her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Meiring, and her in-laws: Ken Pubentz, Ann (Jerry) Hirschfeld, Frank Meiring, Minnie (Myron) Stachler, Ralph Enneking, and Larry McCall.
Betty was a 1962 graduate of Coldwater High School and a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. She had been a former school bus driver and also worked for the Ft. Recovery Bank, but she was the CFO, secretary, and right hand woman for her husband's business, Celina Diesel, for 36 years. Betty was a fun-loving and energetic person who was always on the go attending her grandchildren's various activities, visiting casinos, playing card games, or doing something to keep herself busy. She also enjoyed down time reading, watching the Game Show Network, or playing games on her phone. She was a member of the Minster F.O.E. 1931 Auxiliary and was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen with Rev. Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Minster.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. on Thursday morning, at the church.
