Debra Schwartz
Debra Jean Schwartz passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and fur babies on February 16, 2025, at the age of 70, in Cortland, Ohio. Debbie was born on April 19, 1954, in Phillipsburg, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late James and Clara Brewer and grew up alongside her sister and sidekick, Mary Jo Bane, and her late brother, John Brewer.
Debbie was a loving and devoted mother to her daughters Angela Campana (Jason) and Ashley Deuble (Ralph). Her gentle and selfless nature was a cornerstone of her family, and she was a cherished grandma to Kaetlin (Jeff), Emily (Stratton), Abbie, Jason, Addison, and Alex. Her joy was multiplied with every family gathering, and the love she had for her grandchildren knew no bounds.
Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Schwartz, with whom she shared a beautiful and loving marriage.
Debbie's professional journey was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic. She spent many years at Huffy Bicycle. Her career path later led her to Ford Motor Company, where she met the love of her life. Debbie's final professional chapter was with Wal-Mart, where she retired.
However, it was outside of work where Debbie truly shone. She was the loving mom to her fur babies-Trixie, Bear, Little Bit, Mimi, and Bozo. Her pets were her pride and joy, and she cared for them with unparalleled affection. Debbie's love for animals was just a small part of her vast array of interests.
An avid collector, Debbie took joy in sorting change and adding to her collection of banks. She had an eye for detail, which was evident in her scrapbooking projects-each page a testament to her creativity and the memories she cherished. Her love for crafts was so extensive that she jokingly claimed to have "more crafts than Michael's," a testament to the joy she found in creating and decorating scrapbooks for family. Always one for a good bargain, Debbie loved shopping and was a savvy shopper who could spot the best deals. She especially loved Black Friday shopping with her daughters and grandchildren.
Debbie enjoyed playing bingo and had an annual tradition-a women's camp where she spent quality time with her dearest friends, especially her best friend, Mary. These retreats were a source of laughter, support, and enduring friendships that sustained her throughout the years.
Her home was a hub of activity, with Debbie often watching the birds and squirrels that visited her backyard sanctuary. She took pride in her garden, where she had a variety of vibrant flowers and many vegetables.
Debbie enjoyed meals out with friends and family. She had a special fondness for Chipotle, and her love for chips, popcorn, and ice cream was well-known among her loved ones.
As the seasons change and the flowers in her garden bloom, we will be reminded of the beauty and care Debbie brought into the world.
Debbie's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who were a part of her journey, especially to her caregiver Elizabeth (Liz) Felger and Dr. Sahil Parik.
Though she will be missed beyond measure, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
Per Debbie's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Rather, a time of gathering in Debbie's honor will be held on Thursday, February 20th from 5-7pm at the Mecca Barn in Cortland, Ohio. The family extends an open invitation to all that knew her to gather and share stories, laughter, and tears, remembering a woman who was truly one of a kind. Debbie will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will forever be cherished.
Condolences may be sent to 443 Cedar Drive, Cortland, Ohio 44410.
