Celina man killed in U.S. 33 accident

From staff reports
WAPAKONETA - The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a car-motorcycle crash that took the life of a Celina man Tuesday night in Auglaize County.
OSHP reported the crash occurred Tuesday at approximately 8:59 p.m. on U.S. Route 33 westbound, west of the Moulton Fort Amanda Road off-ramp and just east of St. Marys.
According to a news release, Riley A. Bradford, 24, of Celina, was operating a 2004 Yamaha XVS650 motorcycle westbound on U.S. Route 33. Bradford was following a 2023 Jeep Wrangler operated by Michael C. Reichert, 55, of Van Wert. Jody L. Mahlie, 56, of Middle Point, was a passenger in the Jeep.
The preliminary investigation indicates the Jeep and Yamaha were westbound in the right lane. According to the release, the Yamaha failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck the Jeep in the rear, then overturned.
According to the report, Bradford succumbed to fatal injuries on scene. He was not wearing a helmet, the report noted. No other injuries were reported.
The Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, St. Marys EMS, Buckland Fire Department, Auglaize County Coroner, Cisco Funeral Home and Midway Towing responded to the crash.
