Linus Lefeld
Linus G. Lefeld, age 81, of St. Henry, died on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Mercer Health Hospital in Coldwater.
Linus was born April 15, 1944, in Celina, to the late Seraphim and Clarina (Bettinger) Lefeld. On August 31, 1968, he married Rosemary (Hartings) Lefeld. Linus and Rosie were married for 57 years, and she survives in St. Henry.
Linus is also survived by five children and their spouses, Brenda & Gary Barhorst of St. Henry, Bonnie & Greg Kaiser of Ft. Recovery, Debra & Brad Mescher of St. Henry, Darin & Tasha Lefeld of St. Henry, and Denise & D.J. Ellinger of Botkins.
Other surviving family members include 17 grandchildren: Ryan & Emily Barhorst, Michaela & Dusty Brown, Derreck Barhorst, Jerod Barhorst, Mitch Kaiser, Dustin Kaiser, Collin Mescher, Matthew & Emily Mescher, Ethan Mescher & fiancé Anne, Alanna Mescher, Aaron Lefeld, Jacob Lefeld, Nick Lefeld, Dylan Steinke-Ellinger, Ella Ellinger, Molly Ellinger, and Bernie Ellinger, five great grandchildren: Noelle, Leo, Weston, Makenna, and Mara, as well as siblings and in- laws, Tom & Judy Lefeld, Leo & Ginny Lefeld, and Mary & Jim Jutte, all of St. Henry, and Val & Connie Lefeld, of Burkettsville; and in-laws, Janet Lefeld, of Coldwater, Marjorie Lefeld of St. Henry, Frank & Ginny Mohlman of Coldwater, Rich Hartings of St. Marys, Ron & Karen Hartings of Maria Stein, Janice & Tom Grieshop of Franklin, and Rosemary Hartings of St. Rose.
In addition to his parents, Linus is preceded in death by brothers Art Lefeld, Ernie Lefeld, and Robert Lefeld, his parents-in-law, Lawrence & Leona Hartings, and in-laws, Dolores & Walter Schulze, Eileen & Erwin Schulze, Norma Mohlman, Wilbert Hartings, and Linda Hartings.
Linus was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry Knights of Columbus, and the St. Henry American Legion Post 648. Linus proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard and continued his spirit of service by volunteering for the St. Henry Volunteer Fire Department, the St. Henry Park Board, and dedicated over a decade to the St. Henry School Board. He was co-founder of B&L Construction in St. Henry and was a member of the Ft. Recovery Antique Tractor Association.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Following the funeral mass, burial with military honors will take place in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 30, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
