Carl Stuck
Carl Leroy Stuck, age 76, passed away in his home on March 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
He was born on November 5, 1949, in Greenville, OH, to the late Harold and Evelyn (Shiverdecker) Stuck. On December 30, 1972, Carl married his wife of 52 years, Donna Laux, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Star.
Carl is survived by his wife, Donna (Laux) Stuck of Versailles, OH; his children, Amanda Griesdorn (Chris Stark) of Birmingham, AL, Bethany Griesdorn (Jeff) Ward of Loveland, OH, Shannon (Dan) Bentley of San Antonio, TX, and Taylor Stuck of New Weston, OH; his grandchildren, Victoria (Michael) Dean, Casey Stark, Paige Angne, Andrew (Brianna) Bentley, Danielle Bentley, Elijah Bentley, Brooke Stuck, Seth Petitjean, and Troy Stuck; one great grandchild, Maria Parsons; siblings and in-laws, E. Marlene McGriff, Shirley (Donald) Kingery, Jeanette Taylor, Mark Laux, Mike (Kathy) Laux, Debra (Allen) Farrell, Jennifer (Ian) DiFranco, and Michael Henry.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Paul and Ruthe Laux, as well as sister-in-law, Molinda Laux Miller.
Throughout his years, Carl built a beautiful life full of love, community, and faith. Wherever he went, those around him found an abundance of support, knowledge, understanding, and kindness. With a wide variety of interests, he made it a point to share the beauty of music, the love of the church and his faith, and his depth of knowledge in mechanics and agriculture. Regardless of what was going on in the world around him, the entire family knew they could rely on him in any scenario. His hard work and commitment will continue to influence those closest to him, long after his physical presence has ceased.
In his youth, Carl attended Versailles High School and graduated in 1967. After high school, he attended Wright State University, where he studied English, expanding his passion for literature and developing a broader understanding and perspective of the world around him. While studying at Wright State, Carl became good friends with a young woman in his psychology class, who turned out to be his future wife, Donna.
From his time in high school and all the way into college, Carl played the keyboard in several rock and roll bands, most notably The Jades and Brush Creek. He spent this period of his life playing both local music venues and some across the greater Midwest.
Expanding upon his musical prowess, Carl taught himself to play the pipe organ. He was renowned in the local community as an exceptional musician, sharing his art in many churches and public concerts. He played the pipe organ at St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Star, OH and at Covington Presbyterian Church. Most notably, Carl served the community of St. John's Lutheran Church in Celina for 38 years. Beyond his music being a noteworthy part of worship services for several decades, he was instrumental in the building and installation of the church's pipe organ itself. He donated hundreds of hours of his time to facilitate the installment of the original instrument, as well as countless repairs over the years. His service to the St. John's community has left a lasting impact on the congregation that will continue to spread faith, hope, and selflessness for years to come.
Outside of the church, Carl spent his years in a variety of occupations, spanning several decades. He worked at Huffy's Manufacturing, from which he retired after 25 years. For about a year he also worked at Bunn-Minnick Pipe Organ Company, where he traveled the region and repaired pipe organs. Following this, Carl began working for Honda, where he remained for ten years.
Carl was inspired by his namesake and grandfather, Carl F. Stuck, to be a lifelong farmer, and in 1995, started bringing his son, Taylor, into the farming operation as a partner. In 2008, Carl partnered again with his son, Taylor, to form Stuck Seeds, a seed cleaning and cover crop seed business that reaches customers throughout the entire eastern portion of the United States. In tandem with the seed business, Carl, Taylor, and eventually his grandson, Troy, raised clover, alfalfa, and several other crops on the family's land. In the local farming community, many considered Carl to be incredibly knowledgeable about the weather and when to cut hay due to his uncanny skill of predicting good hay weather. The legacy created in the founding of the farm and seed business is being carried on by Taylor and Troy Stuck, the current partners of both entities.
Despite his own personal battle with cancer, Carl maintained an optimistic attitude through treatment, illness, and fatigue, which proved to be contagious to others in similar situations. On cancer treatment floors, he consistently brought a smile to the faces of other patients, family members, and staff members. For those around him in cancer treatment, a renewed sense of hope and fight often saw its way into their hearts. He also promoted "chemo shirts" which allow easy access to the ports through which chemotherapy and other medications are administered. His dedication to expanding access to these shirts allowed people to maintain a sense of dignity and modesty during an otherwise exceptionally vulnerable time.
In order to continue prioritizing dignity, modesty, and hope in cancer treatment, the family requests that instead of sending flowers, you consider making a donation to St. John Lutheran Church or to Greene Giving (memo: Gang of Seamstresses).
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1100 N. Main Street, Celina, OH 45822.
A funeral service, without his body present, will take place at 11 am on Saturday, April 11, 2026, officiated by Pastor Doug Meyer, at the church. Family will begin receiving guests at 10 am. A luncheon will be held following the service, and all are welcome to attend.
For those insisting on sending flowers, kindly arrange for delivery to the church on Friday between 2-4 pm.
