Area Agency on Aging 3 intends to seek a direct service waiver from the Ohio Department of Aging regarding Title III-D Older American Acts funds for calendar year 2021 with the intent to continue furnishing Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Services to persons 60 and older within Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Mercer, Putnam, and Van Wert counties. The award for 2021 has yet to be released, however 2020's award was $25,144 for the seven-county region. The Area Agency on Aging 3 has been providing these services since approximately 1987. Funds received are based on the state share of the above regional population, aged 60 and older, to provide evidence-based programming that supports healthy lifestyles and promotes healthy behaviors. Title III-D funding alone is not enough to support this work and the agency intends to continue to supplement funds with other agency received federal dollars to support work within the region. The Area Agency on Aging 3 currently provides training to both lay leaders and community members on 7 evidence-based programs which are delivered to all counties in the region. A public hearing will be held virtually on September 22, 2020 at 1:00 PM to discuss this request for waiver.
