The Daily Standard has published our selection of 'World Pictures' for almost ten years. It started as a result of seeing so many pictures on the Associated Press wire service that illustrate breaking news, current events, natural wonders, foreign cultures and the human condition. But most of these images could never have fit in our print edition. As of a week ago, The Daily Standard switched to a tier of service from the AP more appropriate for a newspaper of our size. Unfortunately this tier does not have carte blanche access to AP pictures, and we will be retiring our 'World Pictures' feature. Thank you for learning about our world with us through 'World Picts'.

Fireworks thrown by Lebanese-Armenian protesters, explode in front riot police near the Azerbaijani embassy during a protest denouncing the rest Azerbaijani military operation in the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave, in Ain Aar, east of Beirut, Lebanon, Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023. A 24-hour Azerbaijani blitz last week involving heavy artillery, rocket launchers and drones forced Armenian separatist authorities to agree to lay down weapons and sit down for talks on Nagorno-Karabakh's "reintegration" into Azerbaijan.
