Greg Dues, 12, of the Philothea Hustlers 4-H Club, explains to Judge Don Hickey how he handcrafted two wooden clocks into football helmet shapes for the Measuring Up category of the Mercer County Junior Fair competition. Fair season is nearing and 4-H judging has begun in both Mercer and Auglaize counties. The Mercer County Fair is slated for Aug. 8-14; the Auglaize County Fair begins July 31 and runs through Aug. 5.
