Rare in Grand Lake area
Photo by Betty Lawrence/The Daily Standard

This stuffed, full-grown red coyote recently was donated to the Nature Center located near the Grand Lake St. Marys State Park in St. Marys. Turning the animal over to parks Manager Craig Morton is former Grand Lake Naturalist Tracy Heckler, who said it is rare to find the red coyote in this area. The animal was found between Willshire and Rockford by Mendon resident Jack Severns. Offering the taxidermy service was Mike Grunden. "This will be a great addition to the nature center. These animals are very cunning and the kids who come here really enjoy seeing all the animals at the center," Morton said.
