Edison Thomas
Edison V. "Eddie" Thomas, 75, of Fairmount, Ind., died May 10, 2007, at Seton Specialty Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Fairmount, to Olive Thomas Kemmer. In 1953 he married Nelva Jean Reynolds, who died in 1998. In 1985 he married Roberta Thomas, who died Nov. 3, 2002.
Surviving are a companion, Linda Hiatt, Fairmount; a son, Andrew Todd (Rebecca Machin), Howell, Mich.; three daughters, Echo Price, Fairmount, Jana (Gary) Weigel, Coldwater, and Lisa (Herb) Schock, Cincinnati; two sisters, Sarah (Carlton) Smelser, Fairmount, and Linda (Monte) Nash, Apex, N.C.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He started in the farm equipment business in 1948 at age 17 and held many different sales and management positions including at the former New Idea plant, Coldwater. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as a staff sergeant, and was a 1950 graduate of Fairmount High School.
He was past president of Coldwater Chamber of Commerce, was a Junior Achievement adviser and was an officer of the FFA Alumni Association and Toastmasters. He was a member of the American Legion Post 313 and Fairmount Masonic Lodge Post 635. He was a member and sang in the choir of Fairmount Friends Church.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Jackie Michaelson officiating. Burial is at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, Fairmount, with a military salute at 8 p.m.
