Snow showers associated with an arctic front are moving through this morning, providing a quick accumulation of snowfall. With wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph, the snow showers combined with blowing snow are reducing visibility and creating challenging travel conditions. These conditions are most impactful on roads that are more rural and are aligned from north to south. Even after the snow ends, elevated winds will continue to blow snow into the early afternoon.
Use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

An Arctic front will sweep east across the region between 5 AM and 9 AM. A few hours of snow showers and west wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph will occur with the frontal passage. While any accumulations will generally be a half inch or less, some challenging travel conditions may develop given, rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities, strong wind and cold temperatures. These conditions will impact the morning commute. Use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

* WHERE...Portions of east central Indiana and central and west central Ohio.
* WHEN...From 7 AM this morning to 10 AM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

Arthur Thaman
Former New Bremen resident Arthur A. Thaman, 87, died at 7:47 a.m. May 17, 2007, at Fair Haven Home, near Sidney.
He was born Oct. 31, 1919, in McCartyville, to Frank and Mary Berning Thaman. On Oct. 4, 1947, he married Luedna Schulze, who survives at the Fair Haven Home near Sidney.
Also surviving are a son, John (Peg), Liberty, Ky.; three daughters, Rita (James) Schwieterman, Centerville, Ellen (Gene) Topp, New Bremen, and Carrie (Richard) Rohrbaugh, Wapakoneta; four brothers, Ralph (Mary Ann), McCartyville, Frank (Jeannette), Sidney, Lawrence (Vera), Botkins and Leo (Barb), Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Marilyn, Minster; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Paul and Urban; and a great granddaughter.
He retired from Crown Equipment Corp., New Bremen, after 27 years, was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II, serving in the 52nd Fighter Group, 4th squadron. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen, Crown's 25 year club and American Legion Post 598, Kettering.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial is at St. Michael Cemetery, Fort Loramie, were military rites will be performed by the Minster Veterans Firing Squad.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen and 9:30-10 a.m. Monday at the church.
