Paul Schaaf
Paul Schaaf, 81, of St. Charles Center, Carthagena, died at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 16, 2007, at his residence.
He was born July 24, 1926, in Dayton, to Fred and Vera Meyer Schaaf.
Surviving are a brother, Donald Schaaf, Dayton; and two sisters, Evelyn McCarthy, Dayton, and Pat Merck, Tilson, N.Y.
Deceased is a brother, Norbert.
He entered into the Precious Blood Society in 1950 and was ordained a Catholic priest May 28, 1960. He was an assistant pastor in Virginia and later a missionary and director of seminarians in Chile, where he served for 12 years. In 1975, he returned to the U.S., and presided over many healing services and pilgrimages. He was one of the founding members of the Association of Christian Therapists and served on its board of directors. He was appointed coordinator of the charismatic program of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Fla., and served there several years before returning to St. Charles in 2002.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Friday at St. Charles, the Rev. Angelo Anthony officiating. Burial is at the community cemetery.
Calling is 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday at the center, with a prayer service set for 7 p.m. Thursday.
