The voting booths were empty quite a bit during the Tuesday election, in which Republican Bob Latta was elected to fill the 5th District congressional seat left vacant by the death of Paul Gillmor. Only 16 percent of registered voters in the 11 precincts in northern Mercer County voted for the seat. Voting was at the Mercer County Fairgrounds.
