Area man shares his life with grand bird

ST. MARYS - Scooter perches gracefully on her owner's shoulder as a slight wind from Grand Lake ruffles her rainbow-colored feathers.
The green-winged macaw basks in the sun after a dip in a water fountain along East Bank State Park.
"Scooter goes just about everywhere I go," says former St. Marys resident Keith Patton, who raised the 15-year-old bird from an egg. [More]

Some of the top stars of the Professional Bowlers Association will make a trek to Coldwater next week.
Pla-Mor Lanes will host a PBA Central Region tournament - The Lefeld Implement Classic - on August 16 and 17 with events getting underway on Aug. 13 with a golf outing benefiting the West Ohio High School Bowling Conference Scholarship Fund, followed by pro-ams and other bowling events on Thursday and Friday. MINSTER - Councilors took the first step Tuesday night in removing the current schedule of pay steps for village employees by giving first reading to a new salary plan.
It's going to cost a bit more to license Rover next year.
Mercer County commissioners on Tuesday approved action to increase dog licenses from $11 to $13 effective Jan. 1, in order to put some padding back into the dwindling county dog license fund.

The facility, now called St. Marys Early Learning Centers, has moved across the street to 1659 Celina Road and now offers a full-day, year-round program.
