John Blankenship
Former Germantown resident John R. Blankenship, 86, died Oct. 9, 2008, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Middletown, to John R. and Eva Schmidt Blankenship. In 1945, he married Ruth M. Johnson, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, John III, Germantown, and Roger (Terri), West Carrollton; two daughters, Janet (Albert) Scheckelhoff, Kettering, and Nancy Riggs, Germantown; two sisters, Mabel Hart and Gladys Stanfield, both of Celina; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are several brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Terry Riggs.
He retired as a tool maker from Dayton Superior and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Services are at noon Wednesday at the Dalton Funeral Home, Germantown. Burial is at Germantown Union Cemetery.
Calling is 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
