Commissioners approve $28,000 in additional funds

Mercer County commissioners this week approved approximately $28,000 in additional funds to the board of elections for extra items and salaries needed for this year's election.
The initial request from the election board was for $50,000 to cover an increased number of election workers, printed ballots and the rental of optical scanners. The expenses - over and above the board's 2008 budget - totaled $80,000. [More]
Bulldogs get past Findlay to make district finals

FINDLAY - It seems the last few years, the Celina girls soccer team has hit a brick wall called Findlay when it came to the tournament.
Not only have the Trojans played spoiler to the Bulldogs in five of the past six postseasons (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007), the Bulldogs have had to make the hour-plus trek to Graham Memorial Soccer Stadium in Findlay to see their season end. [More]

The Celina football team will travel to Defiance for the season finale of a difficult season, but the home team will be playing for a Western Buckeye League title and for a playoff berth.
