The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... Northwestern Auglaize County in west central Ohio... Mercer County in west central Ohio...
* Until 900 AM EDT.
* At 606 AM EDT, radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Celina, St. Marys, Coldwater, New Bremen, Rockford, Wabash, Mendon, Chickasaw, Montezuma, Tama, Neptune, Carthagena, Bulkhead, State Route 116 at State Route 197, Chattanooga and Kossuth.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
* WHERE...Portions of central and west central Ohio, including the following counties, in central Ohio, Delaware, Franklin, Licking, Madison and Union. In west central Ohio, Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Miami and Shelby.
* WHEN...Until 2 PM EDT this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move across parts of the area this morning, possibly extending into early afternoon. This may result in bands of heavier rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.

Ralph Vehorn
Ralph H. Vehorn, 74, 3039 E. Shelby Road, Minster, died at 4:55 a.m. Jan. 7, 2009, at University Hospital, Columbus.
He was born April 3, 1934, in Maria Stein, to Bernard and Cecilia Heitkamp Vehorn. On June 25, 1955, he married Nancy Daly, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Mark, Minster; five daughters, Jane (Bo) Gast, St. Henry, Becky (Dan) Fullenkamp, Maria Stein, Terri Klosterman, Celina, Gail (Steve) Harris, Centenial, Colo., and Chelle (David) Burd, Newark; four sisters, Alvira (Werner) Stucke, Maria Stein, Mary Miller, Cincinnati, and Irene Meiring and Dolores Meiring, both of Minster; a brother-in-law, Sonny Meiring, Minster; a sister-in-law, Donna Vehorn, Botkins; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Elmer, Bill and Herb; three sisters, Sally Huelskamp, Viola Ernst and Esther Meiring; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
He was the retired owner of Vehorn Market and was a meat cutter at other markets. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Knights of St. John, Uniform Rank, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Minster. He was a 1952 graduate of the former St. John High School, Maria Stein.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial is at St. John Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
