The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Mark Niekamp
Mark B. Niekamp, 83, 8909 state Route 219, Celina, died at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 11, 2009, at his home.
He was born May 15, 1925, in St. Sebastian, to Bernard and Mathilda Schmitmeyer Niekamp. On May 12, 1948, he married Dorothy Gerlach, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Ron (Janet) and Charles (Karen), all of Celina; two daughters, Jane (Lavern) Weitzel, Fort Recovery, and Virginia (David) Axe, Celina; two brothers, Clete (Hilda) and Paul (Ruth), all of New Bremen; three sisters, Rose Kramer, Coldwater, Dorothy (Ralph) Schmidt, St. Henry, and Edna (Roger) Lochtefeld, Fort Recovery; a sister-in-law, Luella (Melvin) Rindler, Celina; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Thomas; a son-in-law, Mark A. Uhlenhake; a brother-in-law, Othmer Kremer; and a grandchild.
He was a farmer and worked for more than 40 years at Minster Machine. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific and was a member of the American Legion, Coldwater, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chickasaw. He also was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, and its Men's Holy Name Society.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
