The U.S. Postal Service is considering closing a number of post offices in Ohio as a cost-saving measure, post office officials announced this morning.
Listed for possible closure are more than 3,000 post offices in nearly 400 U.S. cities, including 11 in Ohio. Postal managers and executives in the Cincinnati District Office plan to meet next week with congressional representatives to discuss branches that are at risk of closure in their district. [More]

NEW BREMEN - Village councilors Tuesday night approved closing in a portion of the Miami and Erie Canal after considerable discussion on the matter.
After turning down bids on June 23 to enclose a 100-foot section on the north side of Monroe Street, the matter resurfaced and this time passed by a vote of 3-2 with Delores Stienecker and Craig Hoffman casting the dissenting votes. [More]

The city of Celina's operating resources will continue to dwindle in the coming year, according to early projections presented to council members during a meeting Monday night.
The city of Celina has no intention of installing parking meters as part of an upcoming downtown revitalization project.
In a lengthy legal notice published in The Daily Standard on June 8, the city mistakenly printed that 110 parking meters will be acquired for installation along Main Street.
