* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Wallace Schmidt
Wallace Schmidt, 87, St. Marys, died at 10:10 a.m. June 17, 2010, at his residence.
He was born May 13, 1923, in New Bremen, to Albert and Pauline Nieter Schmidt. On Nov. 22, 1947, he married Mary Louise Wehner, who died Aug. 16, 1978. On Nov. 9, 1979, he married Janet E. Walker, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Nick (Elaine) Schmidt and DeWayne Walker, all of St. Marys; three daughters, Angie (John) Hay, Sidney, Susan (Rich) Spencer, St. Marys, and Theresa (Steven) Ogier, Sanford, Fla.; his parents-in-law, Richard and Marian Crouse, St. Marys; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Robert Schmidt, a sister, Anita Rasneor, and a son-in-law, Quentin Lykins.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a sergeant in the 905th Veterinary Detachment in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II. He owned and operated Wally Schmidt Car Sales in St. Marys for more than 64 years.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 323, VFW Post 9289 and Eagles Aerie 767, all in St. Marys.
Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Ed Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery with graveside military rites.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Grand Lake Hospice.
