Calvin Lammers
Calvin D. Lammers, 87, Celina, died at 7:55 a.m. Oct. 25, 2010, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Geyer, to Fred and Christine Geyer Lammers. On Sept. 21, 1945, he married Dorothy Gilmore, who died in 1985.
Surviving are a son, Thomas (Kim) Lammers, Celina; a daughter, Cheryl (Jerry) Weaver, Freemont, Ind.; a sister, Doris Lamar, Cridersville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are six brothers and six sisters.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II with the 838th Bomb Squadron. He retired as a supervisor after 45 years at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Plant in St. Marys. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Celina. He was a life member of the Celina Veteran's of Foreign War Post #5713, the American Legion Post #210, Mercer County Elks, all of Celina, the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Wapakoneta and Celina, and the Celina Moose Lodge.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial with military honors by the Celina American Legion and V.F.W. will be at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Membership services for the Celina American Legion and V.F.W. will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
