Rev. Gerold Koller
The Rev. Gerold Koller, 87, died at 12:01 a.m. Nov. 18, 2010, at St. Charles Center in Carthagena.
He was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Peter and Magdelina Kaelin Koller.
Surviving is a sibling, June Marie Jandrok, Converse, Texas.
Deceased is a brother-in-law, Al Jandrok.
He entered the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1937 and was ordained on March 25, 1949. He served as an assistant pastor at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cleveland and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta. From 1957-1963, he served as director of seminarians at the former St. Charles Seminary. In 1963, he was named chaplain of the Modesto State Hospital in California and later served as chaplain to juvenile and adult offenders in the California prison system. He retired to the St. Charles Center in 1993 and ministered at the Mercer County Home for many years.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Assumption at St. Charles, the Rev. Larry Hemmelgarn officiating. Burial is at the community cemetery.
Calling is 1-5 p.m. today at St. Charles with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
