Light snow across the area early this morning will increase in coverage and intensity toward sunrise in the I-70 corridor. This band of moderate snow will push south affecting the Tri-State region by mid morning, eventually pushing south of the area by early to mid afternoon.
Snow amounts of 1-2 inches will common for a good portion of the area on grassy surfaces, with melting on concrete surfaces limiting accumulations. Main impacts are expected to be reduced visibilities and some slick spots on mainly bridges and overpasses.
Temperatures today will remain steady mainly in the upper 20s. These cold temperatures combined with gusty winds of 20-25 mph will result in wind chill values in the teens to lower 20s.
Motorists should exercise caution. Plan extra time for the Monday morning commute.

Norma Zizelman
Norma B. Zizelman, 89, Rockford, died at 10:45 p.m. Dec. 21, 2010, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
She was born July 29, 1921, in Van Wert County, to Joseph and Esther Agnes Grote Germann. On Jan. 8, 1937, she married Charles W. Zizelman, who died Aug. 19, 2009.
Surviving is a daughter, Marjorie (Earl) Brodbeck, Willshire; a daughter-in-law, Esther Zizelman, Rockford; a brother, Howard (Marva) Germann, St. Marys; a sister, Alice Smith, Celina; a brother-in-law, Bill Kahn, Decatur, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Lois Krick, Celina; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are a son, George Zizelman; five brothers, Paul, Elmer, Art, Lester and Herbert Germann; and six sisters, Agnes Teboe, Mildred Germann, Ireta Grace, Helen Searight, Mabel Prichard and Laura Kahn.
She was a housewife and worked at Tu-Way Products in Rockford. She farmed with her husband. She was a member of the Friends Chapel Church in Rockford. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1292 in Rockford and the Hopewell Grange in Celina.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, the Rev. Steve Howell officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a Rockford Eagles Auxiliary service is at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
