* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Southerly winds will increase today ahead of an approaching cold front. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph can be expected with gusts of 35 to 45 mph at times this afternoon. Be sure to secure outdoor objects.

Henry Shimanek
Henry Carl Shimanek, 75, Portland, Ind., died July 28, 2011, at Jay County Hospital, Portland.
He was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., to Henry C. and Helen Dubois Shimanek. On Nov. 6, 1971, he married Harriette "Trudy" DeHaan, who survives.
Other survivors are four sons, Dan Shimanek, of California, David (Marianne) Shimanek, Cissna Park, Ill., Fred (Sylvia) Carrigan, Portland, and Joe (Penny) Carrigan, Portland; a daughter, Dawn (Richard) Dressel, Coldwater; a sister, Joann (Bill) Futrell, Manteno, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He worked for Teledyne Portland Forge for 22 years and retired in 1998. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Portland.
Services are 4 p.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Jason Rice officiating. Burial is at a later date at Green Park Cemetery, Portland.
Calling is 1-4 p.m. Monday at the church.
