Health fears, misinformation and other factors are swaying parents to skip vaccinations for their children, a local official said.
About 15 percent of children in Mercer County have received no immunizations or only a select few, according to Joyce Jansen, director of nursing at the Mercer County-Celina City Health Department. The number has increased only slightly in recent years, she added. [More]

CELINA - As of the end of October, the city is on track to have a general fund carryover between $624,765 and $1.24 million, according to city auditor Emily Stewart.
ST. MARYS - All construction bids except one came in less than the $373,810 estimate for the school's new tennis complex.
School officials on Wednesday opened eight bids for the complex, which was designed by the architecture firm MSA Sport, Cincinnati.

The Associated Press announced All-Ohio football teams for Divisions V and VI on Wednesday and the Midwest Athletic Conference's standouts were big winners.
The Coldwater football team is playing in the Division V state championship game for the third straight year and the Cavaliers are focused on bringing home a state title after finishing as the state's runner-up the past two seasons.
