Glenn Figley
Glenn A. Figley, 90, Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices, St. Marys, died at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 22, 2012.
He was born Dec. 19, 1921, in St. Marys to Miles and Edna Miller Figley. On June 29, 1948, he married Ruth Evelyn Hight, who survives.
Also surviving are children, Kim Figley, Ohio City, Kirk (Peg) Figley, Lobelville, Tenn., Mindy (Bruce) Hays, Celina, and Kollin Figley, Convoy; two sisters-in-law, Helen Freeman and June Hanni, Celina; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are siblings and spouses, Lowell and Alberta Figley and Thelma and Louis Meeker; two brothers-in-law, Harold "Pete" Freeman and Leon Hanni; and one grandchild.
He was a member of Hamilton and Bethel United Methodist Church, Mendon.
He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys, after 38 years of service. He also was a retired farmer and served with the U.S. Marines, earning a purple heart at the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
A memorial will be held later at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to Community Health Professionals, Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
